We’re Hiring: Accounting Manager

Genesis Club, a pioneer in the evidence-based Clubhouse model of rehabilitative recovery for people with serious mental illness, is hiring its next Accounting Manager.  The position offers flexible hours (20 hours per week), some remote work, in an inspiring work environment.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Accounts Payable: verify invoices, enter in QuickBooks, ensure appropriate approvals, prepare for payment, and maintain all associated records.
  • Accounts Receivable: issue invoices, deposit payments and maintain all associated records.
  • Human Resources: process weekly payroll, process employee hiring/termination documents, handle all government and tax reporting, and ensure that all information is correctly entered into the accounting ledgers.
  • General Ledger: updates and maintain the Chart of Accounts as necessary; regularly reconcile all balance sheet accounts; investigate discrepancies; resolve vendor billing issues.
  • Audit and Reporting: prepare materials for annual audit, financial reports to donors and grantors, work with outside auditors in preparation for yearend financials and other reportable filings.
  • Software Systems: ensures data integrity in: QuickBooks, timekeeping and payroll databases, and other stand-alone spreadsheet tracking (Excel and Google Sheets).
  • Policies and Procedures: review, update and maintain accounting and HR policies

Required Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, business management or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years relevant accounting experience, non-profit preferred.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or other accounting software, analytical reporting preferred; high degree of proficiency in Excel required.
  • Experience working or volunteering in non-profit organization.
  • Problem solving ability. Can seek solutions to problems that may arise. Is able to present to the Board of Directors and relevant stakeholders/contributors.
  • Working knowledge of language and culture from underserved communities in Worcester
  • Ability to thrive in a community setting where relationship- building is a priority, and multi-tasking is the norm
